Have you ever had a dream that seemed so real, it's surreal? I had one last night that freaked me the hell out.
I don't remember all of the specifics, just the very end. I was asleep in my bed, with Overboard to my right; everything is just as it was when I went to bed. My perspective in the dream was where I laid, and everything was very calm and quiet, as one would expect at that time of night. Suddenly, I heard a noise, but I could not determine where it came from; the noise was loud enough to wake me up, but not Overboard. I laid in bed trying to go back to sleep when I heard a creaking noise coming up the stairs. I continued to lie still, hoping Overboard wouldn't wake up; then I noticed a shadow move, then a noise for the spare bedroom. Overboard continued to sleep very soundly, but I was a little more alert, fully awake and honestly, scared shitless. The shadow then turned into something tangible; it had a shape, it had movement, the figure then moved into the bedroom. I tried to remain still in order to get the jump on the figure as it moved closer, all the while hoping that Overboard remained asleep. The person got within arms reach, but I couldn't move; it got closer and closer, as if to check if I was sleeping or awake; I could feel my instinct saying "GO GO GO, HIT HIM", but I couldn't manage to make the move, the figure got ever closer, but I could not make my move. At about this point I woke up and I was extremely rattled. The room around me is as it was in the dream; Overboard was still asleep to my right, just as she was in the dream, I could hear someone drive through the neighborhood, splashing as they went...
The dream was so real, I almost got up to check the house, just to be sure.

This has easily been the most wacked-out weekend I've ever been apart of. The high-level details are:
- I nearly had to take out a biker for inappropriate behavior towards a party host
- I was told that an elite..."elite" airsoft team wanted to bring me on (prior to joining my current team)
- I saw a guy get shocked with a stun gun (alcohol, clubbing, the police or money WAS NOT involved)
- I witnessed a typically cool guy totally hit the end of his rope
- and (breaking news) Said "elite" team was BANNED from our airsofting facility.
All of this in the span of 3 days (except the last item...that was this morning)!
Party:
I still have some issues with this incident; in some deep regions of my black belt psyche, I feel like I failed the party host. Basically, the hostess and a guest were playing around; the hostess was quite intoxicated; the two began wrestling. At this point, I don't think anyone gave the events a second thought. I then noticed that he had her pinned down and attempted to kiss her, she moved her head, not letting him but never gave an indication that there was a problem. I stood in a circle of conversation watching this go down...others started noticing that I "exited" the conversation at that point and also began watching the events more closely. They began wrestling again; the hostess had an opportunity send that guy to a great dentist (with her foot) but never pulled the trigger, which further lead me to believe that this was still a playful incident. In all actuality, I should've stepped in and ended these events. I did not.
The wrestling went on for a few more moments when the hostess noticed her foot bleeding (she stubbed it wrestling around) and went into the restroom. A female guest went in to check on her. After a few moments had passed, the perpetrator inquired if she was ok and if he was the reason she was in there. So he then approached the restroom, which the other female inside immediately locked the door. This guy then goes into get something to POP THE LOCK!
At this point, I placed myself between him and the bedroom door and let him know he was not going inside. Furthermore, he needed to respect the fact that this woman has her door locked in her apartment, he had no right to go in there. While not being belligerent (yes, he had been drinking, as had I, but he had significantly more), he said, "I respect what you're saying, and I'll take it under advisement, but I need to do this my way. So if you'll excuse me...".
What the fuck? Are you serious dude? Take it under advisement?!? No motherfucker, you will respect my authority or have you esophagus crushed like a crab leg in front of Twinkletoes. <-- this is what I was thinking/wanted to say.
"I don't think that's smart, be respectful of her in her home. You haven't thus far. I think you really just need to back off." <--Yea, this is what I said...
The exchange went on for a few minutes. There was another guest who was around and I could sense he was getting uncomfortable because neither of us bucked down. I eventually did, for two reasons 1). If I felt I was in danger, I would've executed a nukite to the throat; that really would've been my only course of action. This guy was huge (albeit short), if he recovered, it would've been bad. 2). The other guests were wigged out enough, I did not need to contribute to that feeling by getting into a fist fight. The fact is that this guy is a dickhead, period; whether Atlanta Police would've sided with that assessment is a different story. I'm not APD, so I don't know. The pokey was not one of my planned stops for Friday evening.
I let the biker...codename Dickhead, go and went into try and unlock the door. I stayed close behind in case she wanted him gone or he tried something unsavory. She told him to go away and he went to go check on a cab (we were planning to go to a bar for an "after party" gathering). The door was promptly locked. The hostess came out and walked over to the sink and looked right at me (before I got a chance to say anything) and said "If he touches me again, it is NOT alright..." He then knocked at the door looking for his keys. We couldn't find them, two other guys went outside, had a talk with him and he left. Another guest stayed the night with the hostess just to ensure he didn't try anything (we tried to get her to stay with us as well and she refused). At the point that she addressed me I felt like a failure. I knew I should've done SOMETHING, if nothing more than say "Dude, stop." and I did nothing.
During the entire exchange, I kept saying to Overboard, "I should break this up...", "I need to step in, this isn't right..."; I never got the exec order, so I did not (not saying I need Overboard's approval, but the hostess is a coworker of her; I needed to be mindful of that relationship. Overboard commented that I handled the situation correctly and I shouldn't feel like I should've done something else; after a few days of thinking about it, I agree with her.
Airsoft:
I was told by a couple of members of a team we played with over the weekend that they wanted me on board, but appreciated the fact that I am on my current team. I was never "officially" approached about this, but I like my team. It consists of 2 personal friends, people I can trust. The other team members are cool as well and I look forward to enjoying our time together. Only reason this was worth mentioning is that I took that as a sign that my play has progressed and they think I'm a good guy.
Stun Gun, Ban:
What I say from here on out are reasons why I'm glad I'm not on the team mentioned above. One member of said team celebrated a birthday Saturday. His team thought it would be funny to shock him with a taser. They set it up to do it and got him. I will admit, it was funny and the guy wasn't too sore about it afterwards. Where I take issue is that the guys had it out in the open and were being irresponsible. This team also earned themselves a 3 month ban from the facility and two of them a permanent ban.
General bad shenanigans (to steal Picklez word...):
The ref at the facility dealt with a lot of crap this weekend. He's a chill guy, very laid back. He got a little pissed with the actions of Sunday's play on top of the actions of Saturday (yes including the stun gun) and kicked everyone out with 30 minutes left to play. I don't blame him...not at all, not even down to the manner in which he did it ("Pack up and leave, everyone. You guys can't seem to quite your bitching, so I'm shutting it down early. If you have rental equipment, turn it in up front so I can check it back in. Everyone else, pack your stuff and leave...NOW."). I helped him straighten up after everyone else left; we chit-chatted about our team reputation and other various topics. He is so mature for someone his age...I really thought he was older. Any who, I think I may ask about Picklez reffing idea, if for no other reason just to keep things like this weekend from happening again.
